The author (noted local historian from Conrad, Montana) wrote this biography of Daniel and Panayiota McCorkle from the McCorkles' personal papers. Daniel McCorkle was the Presbyterian pastor in Conrad, Montana for many years. He was involved with early organizing of labor unions in Montana. He founded the Montana Welfare Association that worked on many social issues of the day including improving public education and improving mental health services. Ten pages of the book deal with his inspection in 1950 of the Boys Industrial School in Miles City, his report to Governor Bonner about the abuses he found there, and the resulting investigation. No date but approx. 1975. Included are three postcards addressed to the McCorkles in 1912 and 1918, given to us by the author. Spine has a one-inch surface tear.
